About Me
Before becoming a counsellor I had 15 years’ experience working with individuals in crisis, some with very chaotic lifestyles and with varying mental health needs. This means that I have developed a calm and non-judgemental way of working. It also means that I will not be easily shocked by anything you wish to share with me.
I specialise in working with late discovered neurodivergence – in particular Autism and ADHD. I realised that I was autistic (quite likely AuDHD) in my mid 30s and I understand first-hand the complex and mixed emotions that arise from making a personal discovery like this, in your adult life. I have completed additional training in this area and have worked with many clients, both one-to one-and in therapy groups, who are navigating this often emotional and confusing journey.
I have lived experience with chronic illness and chronic pain which has led to a special interest in working in this area too. I can help you to come to terms with your changing health, mobility, support needs, relationships and life purpose which often occurs but isn’t talked about with ‘hidden disabilities’. As well as understanding what a potential new diagnosis might mean to you.
I work with adults (18+) and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and as such abide by their Ethical Framework. Please see – www.bacp.co.uk/ethical-framework for more information
